Review: Mrs. Smith's Blackberry Cobbler

So, the other night we were looking for a dessert that I wouldn't have to fix and Rob would want to eat. And we both wanted something warm. One trip to WalMart (and $3.19) later, we were the proud owners of a Mrs. Smith's Blackberry Cobbler. I followed the directions on the box, baked as instructed (and then baked about 5 minutes extra to get the crust a little "brown-er"). After it rested for 1/2 an hour, it was DELICIOUS!!

Rob gave it an A, I gave it an A-. My reason is that I don't normally care for pie crust and there was nothing special about this one. The crust on the cobbler was actually a little too "rubbery" for me. But the filling more than made up for it. It was the perfect combination of sweet and tart and had real berries in it (which is important to me). I could eat the filling all by itself and be perfectly happy.

Either way, it was an easy option, made about 8 servings (smallish, but enough), and didn't break the bank. A good easy dessert option for busy nights!

Your cobblers are so delicious. I am thankful it was me who bought your cobbler. I take small bites, thankfully, because there was a large stem, like a toothpick attached to a berry. I have this saved, as well as the box. I could have choke and died. Who is checking this food? A child could have been eating this. What should I do to assure safety with purchased food? If a large stem, like a toothpick can get in your food, what else can? I will file a report with the FDA. I fear production of food has become careless and risky. what has food production become, for it could be someone's life. Shame on you! LCW

I LCW wrote about the stem in my cobbler. My email is Lydija59@hotmail.com. I did not wish to be ananymous. Shall I take a picture of this toothpick like stem?

Wow, really? This is my blog, and I appreciate your comment and all, but ...

1. I do not manufacture Mrs. Smith's cobblers. I just bought one, like you, and reviewed it. I'm sure if you google it the website will come up.

2. It is NOT a good idea to leave your email on a public forum. That's how spam happens.

3. While filing a report with the FDA is a great idea and all, you'd be better off just calling the company. I'm sure they'd be happy to take the report. (And they'll probably send you a coupon.)

While attending a huge family reunion in small town in Missouri, we went into a local market to find something to take, since we were from the west coast and making something was not an option. We saw in the deli a large display of blackberry cobbler. We were given a sample and it was like our younger days in mo when our mom made fresh blackberry cobbler. They offered to bake it for us, and told us if we wanted more, we could buy it in the
freezer, that it was Mrs.Smiths. We have looked for it in the markets in Tucson and finally found it in Wal Mart, however it wasn't as good as the one in Mo. Are there quality differences in locations or packaging ?

I absolutely love Mrs. Smith's Blackberry Cobbler. Have never found anything wrong with the 30 or more that I have purchased.
My only problem has been finding them lately so I will stock up on cobblers when I do find them.
Please send coupons if you have them.
Thank you for great products.
